Anastasia Zannis was born in Athens. She studied classical song at the Athens Conservatoire, where she earned her diploma in monody with Excellent Honors. She also specialized in jazz music at the London Royal Academy of Music. She sings impeccably in English, Greek, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Anastasia Zannis is a Crossover Classical singer, who has solidified her position in the international music scene through performances at the world’s premier institutions, both as a solo performer and in co-operation with world-renowned artists.
The flexibility, technique, and broad vocal range of her voice has allowed for an extensive repertoire, which adjusts to different music styles, from opera to contemporary music.
Anastasia’s concerts are an extension of her personality, based on supporting human values and rights.
She has delivered sold-out personal concerts at Carnegie Hall (New York, 2013), Athenaeum (Bucharest 2014), Pallas Theater (Athens, 2011), Keyaki Hall (Tokyo, 2007), and many other well-respected venues.
She is a member of the Olympic Torch Relay Committee. Her association with the Olympic Games, and performing the Olympic Anthem, go as far back as her childhood when she was chosen from a competition to sing at the Opening Ceremony Calgary Winter Olympics in Canada, representing Greece.
Anastasia’s strong stage presence and vocal range lends itself for unique performances in Ancient Greek Theatres, such as Ancient Olympia (2012), the Ancient Theatre of Larissa (2013), and Ancient Pnyx under the Acropolis (2012). She had the honor of hosting the entire opening Classical Marathon Opening Ceremony (2013)
She is featured in varied discography such as: Buddha Bar Collection (Cover to Lorena McKennit’s “Tango to Evora”, “Circle of change”), Stefanos’ European release CD (“The Challenge”), Medecins du Monde folksong “Tzivaeri”, Mark Almond’s cover on “Days of Pearly Spencer”, and her live album at the Pallas Theater.
Anastasia’s awards include: Best Performance Award (World Trade Fair, Seoul, 2008), 3rd Prize Performance Award (Cesme Song Festival, Turkey, 2009), Olympic Committee award for contributions to the Olympic Games (2014).
She was selected to perform the American National Anthem in front of Former US President Bill Clinton, former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, current NYC mayor Bill de Blasio, the US National Basketball team. Her esteemed audience also includes other world-stage personalities such as former Secretary-General of the UN Boutros Boutros-Ghali, NBC anchorman George Stephanopoulos, and many others.
She has also participated at world-renowned concerts such as the Jose Carreras philanthropic Gala, Classic Nights in Dresden with the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra and composer Stefanos, and performed the opening act for Emma Shapplin’s concert.
